Teams of 4 Partridge Lakes – Fran makes his peg count

This weekend it was the teams of 4 event at Partridge Lakes and after suffering with a really bad chest infection I manned up as I could not let my team down.

Arriving at Partridge at around 8am, it was a quick bite to eat before I done the draw for the team. I have gone to the draw bag and out came Peg 1, 40, 54 and 98. On current winter form this was not too bad with 2 really good pegs and 2 not so good.

I was put on peg 98 and I really fancied this today. Driving round to the lake and then unloading all my gear onto the trolley it was a little on the cold side to say the least. A nice simple approach was needed for today and I have set just 3 rigs up. One in 4ft, one in 4.5ft of water and a winter dobbing rig, so nice and simple.

At the all in I have started on my dobbing rig with bread on the hook and started to dob along the far bank. This has not been very productive as I have only managed to put 3 fish in the net after the first two hours and I was getting worried that it was going to be a low weight day.

I have plumbed up two lines across both in 4ft of water and alternated with maggots on the hook fishing either a single or double red. Feeding little bait I have had a really good run on these lines putting a fair few fish in the net, which is great at this time of year as bites are always at a premium.

With 30 minutes to go I have gone on down the track and have managed to put a few more F1s in the net.

I have finished the match with 57lb which has given me a lake win and 2nd overall, but more importantly it has given me a section win so great for the team although it has been a lot harder for the other lads with them finishing with a 4th, last and 7th in their sections.
